<p>On January 16, 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of&nbsp;Howard University by five visionary women who dared to depart from the traditional<br />
coalitions for Black women and sought to establish a new organization based on the principals&nbsp;of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.<br />
In pursuance of our founders principals, Upsilon Zeta Zeta Chapter is seeking applicants for&nbsp;the following scholarship awards:</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>● The Mary Leatherman Scholarship</strong></p>

<p style="text-align: center;">○ Up to two (2) scholarships in the amount of $500 each may be awarded to female high school seniors enrolled in a trade school within the Center, Grandview, Hickman Mills, Kansas City, Lee&rsquo;s Summit, or Raytown area.</p>

<p>The purpose of the Mary Leatherman Scholarship is to recognize an outstanding woman who&nbsp;strived to assist the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and their youth auxiliary.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary Leatherman was an avid supporter, fundraiser, mentor and a key player in supporting&nbsp;Upsilon Zeta Zeta&rsquo;s youth auxiliary from inception. In honor of her professional work, a&nbsp;Certified Medical Technician (CMT) for over 30 years, applicants must be a high school&nbsp;student enrolled in a trade school such as Herndon Career Center, Manual Career Technical<br />
Center or other district affiliated professional or trade school program.<br />
The two scholarship awards target, but are not limited to women who identify as Black or African American. <p><strong>Why are Black women targeted for these scholarships?</strong><br />
❖ As a historically Black sorority who strives to fight for a socially just society, it is&nbsp;important for us to acknowledge the historical and continued marginalization<br />
experienced by Black/African American women. While not limited to Black/African&nbsp;American women, these two scholarships target Black/African American women to&nbsp;begin to help add resources for a specific population of women who have been&nbsp;historically underrepresented and denied access to resources.</p>

<p><strong>How much is the scholarship?</strong><br />

❖ Scholarship/fellowship funds can be used for tuition, books, room, board or groceries.</p>

<p><strong>How will my headshot be used?</strong></p>

<p>❖ Headshots will be used for promotional purposes only.</p>

<p><strong>How many letters or recommendations are required?</strong><br />
❖ Three letters of recommendations are required:<br />
